Celebrities may seem to have perfect lives. But, like the rest of us, they too are not immune to the damaging effects of the sun and the potential for skin cancers.

Case in point: Huge Jackman’s most recent bout with skin cancer, which he posted via Instagramshowing a photo of himself wearing a bandage on the bridge of his nose after receiving treatment for basal cell skin cancer. Unfortunately for Jackman, this isn’t the first time he has had to deal with skin cancer. The 47 year-old actor has had three other diagnoses since 2013.

“Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer; an estimated 2.8 million cases of it are diagnosed annually in the United States,” says Houston, TX, dermatologist Paul M. Friedman, MD. “Almost all basal cell carcinomas occur on parts of the body excessively exposed to the sun—the face, ears, neck, scalp, shoulders and back.”

In his post, Jackman urges his followers to wear sunscreen and get check ups regularly. The best thing you can do to protect yourself: wear an SPF of at least 30 every single day no matter what, avoid the sun during the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and wear protective clothing.
