The Skin-Saving Shave Oil You Need This Winter

For most, shaving isn’t so much of a relaxing experience as it is just one of those things you have to do, but don’t tell that to Oui Shave founder Karen Young.

Her line of incredibly luxe razors, shave oils and specialized formulas are so inviting when you take a look at the pretty packaging; once you break them open, you quickly realize they are nothing like the standard.

One of the standouts: The Santal Shave Oil ($16). It has a grown-up herbal scent (sort of like a fine perfume that you can’t quite pinpoint where you’ve smelled before and there's an equally as good Neroli one), a ton of pure essential oils and natural ingredients like skin-softening sweet almond oil, castor oil and rosehip seed oil.

It goes on silky-smooth, creates a close shave and the oil (and the fragrance) sticks around on your skin after you are done—without the all-too-common oil aftereffects of clogging up your razor, making a mess in your shower or leaving your skin way too slippery and greasy.

According to Young, when you skip foaming products and opt for a hydrating oil or lotion like this one, you create a barrier between your skin and the blade, which also cuts down on irritation. It’s also so effectively hydrating that you can see the difference from how you normally shave right away.
